Events and festivals from August to September
Even if we are at the end of the traditionally holiday month, the events and festivals from August to September do not stop.
Fortunately, after the days of severe bad weather, we are back to normal activity, and to offer everything that our territory can give to those who come to visit it.
Land of oil and wine (and soon the fruits of these crops will begin to be harvested), but also of many other specialties. This is always associated with the history and culture of which Italy, and our area, is very rich.
What to do in the next days?
On 23 and 24 August in Pistoia, San Bartolomeo is celebrated. An anniversary that is also dedicated to children, with traditional biscuits (pippi) and toy markets and specific events for them, from workshops to entertainment.
On August 25, in Cerreto Guidi the pizza festival, because even here we like to eat it and we try to do it at its best. And always in this small village, from 3 to 10 September a dip in the past. The 53rd edition of the Palio del Cerro. We will go back through the centuries with some challenges inspired by the Florentine Renaissance. A challenge between the four districts in which Cerreto Guidi was formerly divided.
The competitions will concern: shooting with the crossbow, pulling the rope, throwing rings, running on tops and running in the tub. These challenges evoke the period in which the figure of Cosimo I dei Medici, who had his villa built in Cerreto Guidi.
If you prefer tastings, from 1 to 4 and from 8 to 11 September in Bacchereto, in the Municipality of Carmignano (PO), the 46th edition of the Festival of the Fig.
The typical dish of the festival are the figs with various cold cuts or cured meat, a true classic of the Tuscan tradition. But the menu is full of many other specialties: traditional coocked rabbit, roast pork, rosticciane, crostini appetizers, pies with figs, migliacci, etc. etc.
